Identifikasi Bakteri dalam Air RWH Rusunawa Muara Baru dan Evaluasi Tanaman Obat dengan Aktivitas Antibakteri
Abstract
Abstract: Muara Baru Rusunawa offers benefits and helps residents because of the affordable price and well-equipped facilities. Nevertheless, one of the problems is the availability of water. In 2017, the Rain Water Harvesting (RWH) system was built. RWH water quality varies widely and is influenced by geographical location, climate, environmental conditions, animal waste, volume and water retention in reservoirs, roof conditions, pipe and storage system conditions, and maintenance. Several studies report that microbes can contaminate RWH water and can cause acute and chronic diseases and epidemics. Current service activities began with RWH water sampling in April 2021 at Rusunawa Muara Baru using the international guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO International Guideline).
Furthermore, several medicinal plants' microbiological tests and antimicrobial potential were carried out. Through this activity, three types of bacteria were found in the water sample of the RWH Rusunawa Muara Baru, namely: Klebsiella pneumonia, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa through characterization of 16S rRNA. Five Indonesian medicinal plants have the potential as antibacterials to prevent RWH water hygiene problems, namely Azadirachta indica (Neem Leaves), Artocarpus altilis (Breadfruit Leaves), Psidium guajava (Guava Leaves), Curcuma zanthorrhiza (Temulawak), and Lagerstroemia speciosa (Bungur). Furthermore, community service activities will make antiseptic products based on potential medicinal plants.
